2025 Opportunities for Postbacs

The Landscape Ecology Lab at UTEP will be hosting a 12-month postbac from the UTEP ROADS 2025-2026 cohort to work on the structure of dryland biocrust communities. This program is ideal for recent graduates from a bachelors degree program that are not yet sure if graduate school is right for them or need to gain additional experience to become competitive for entry level STEM careers. Individuals with little experience in biology research are particularly encouraged to apply. This funding opportunity is open to US citizens and permanent residents.

Please visit https://www.utep.edu/science/ramp/ for more information about the ROADS Program and the application link.

Interested individuals are also encouraged to reach out to Dr. La Rue to learn more about the project.

2026 Opportunities for PhD Students

The lab is currently composed of 3 PhD students, 2 Masters students, and one postbac. We will be not accepting students in Fall 2025.

Interested applicants for the UTEP EEB PhD Program in Fall 2026 should reach out by email with their CV and a statement of research interest. Funding for this program is primarily available in the form of teaching assistantships, but I encourage prospective students to apply to external fellowships or check back here for posted lab funding opportunities in the form of research assistantships.
